CGS insurance backed guarantees are designed to protect property owners – your customers – against defects which would normally be covered by your own written guarantee in instances where you cannot honour that guarantee yourself, as a result of having ceased to trade.
You may have already been provided with written guidance on how to offer insurance backed guarantees. If you have not; please download the guidance from the document library here. This guidance can be seen as a list of do’s and don’ts which must be followed. Insurance backed guarantees are valuable and useful consumer protection products; but it must be remembered that they are also regulated insurance products! Whilst this gives them much of their strength, it does mean that certain (relatively simple and straightforward) rules must be observed whilst offering the insurance and you must bear that in mind. Registration is simple. Prior to offering insurance to your customers you will be required to complete a simple online application form, submit your own written guarantee, and agree to the terms & conditions.
